Rally for Children, Families and Educators. Don’t Cut Our Future!
Federally mandated sequestration cuts have come to Rochester, NY, specifically to ABC Head Start, and they will negatively affect the neediest children and families in the city. Educators, families and our community deserve a say in how cuts come down so the least amount of harm takes place. Currently management has decided “they are the only ones competent enough to come up with a plan.” They made changes to Head Start without input from either parents or educators. SEIU Local 200United, the union that represents Head Start educators, has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board in response. Educators at Head Start believe management level employees should make the same sacrifices they, families and children, are being asked to make.
The community is invited to rally outside ABC Head Start’s annual meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 5:30 p.m., at Rochester Museum and Science Center’s Eisenhart Auditorium, 657 East Ave., Rochester, NY.
